SKILLing It: Elvin’s 3R’s of Cubing

“Life is like a rubix cube, there are countless numbers of wrong twists and turns, but when you get it right, it looks perfect no matter what way you look at it.” Nothing makes you try even harder than to be told that you’re not good enough or you don’t have the skills.
Elvin Bartolo, a Grade 10 student from Special Program in Journalism (SPJ). It’s been three years now since he started cubing. He joined annual Math Fests here in Quezon National High School and won most of them.After all those contests and experience, he always picks up a lesson from each experience. One by one, gaining all those skills he has grown as a person who is better version of himself before.

. If you would look at his hand movement, you won’t be able to catch up to his speed. It’s like how fast his brain works, that’s how fast his movements are. Up until now his fastest record is 5. 34 seconds.

Re-boosting confidence. At first, we all start as a timid person but as soon as we left our comfort zone, we can show our capabilities into what extent. Believing in yourself is one of the great thing to achieve as a person.
“Mostly useful sakin ang intuition kapag ako ay nasa madalian na situation tapos focus kapag akobay may mga gawain na kailangan ko gawin nang walang distraction,” is the easiest method for him to enhance your skills.
“Practice. Sanayin mo lang magsolve tapos along the way nasasanay ka na sa mga skills na natutunan mo sa pagsolve.”
“Since recognized na ako nung mga ibang top cubers ng pinas tulad ni jay alfaras at giann dominic manalo magiging masaya makipagcompete sa mga nakalaban ko dati at sa mga bagong mga kaibigan na maari kong makilala at makipag kompetensiya sa kanila at least maging masaya kapag nasali sa competitions.”
