Quezon National High School (QNHS) conducted one day clean-up drive leaded by the School Clinic and School Disaster Risk and Reduction Management (SDRRM) to help fight the spreading of Dengue disease  last September 9, 2019.

According to Mrs. Feli Rose Uy, Head Nurse in Quezon National High School (QNHS) about twenty-five cases of students and teachers having dengue had been recorded in the school campus.       The clean-up drive was participated by the Grade 7 up to the higher level cleaning almost all the area in QNHS particularly on the area in which mosquito lays egg and where mosquito multiply, they started cleaning after their flag ceremony.

Some of the areas that they cleaned are the Gabaldon, Grandstand, Study area and Pergola. After the clean-up drive, Survey says that 7 out of 10 students of QNHS had claimed that the clean-up drive is not enough to prevent the spreading of mosquito disease in the school.

“ Syempre hindi sapat kasi hindi naman lahat naglilinis e tsaka ang mas importante kasing gawin ay gumawa tayo ng prevention sa sarili natin mismo kasi bilang indibidwal dapat maging disiplinado din tayo,” says Ranella Garay, a student in QNHS.

On the other hand, Mr. Allan Abisamis, head of SDRRM, stated that the one day clean-up drive is not really enough and should be done not just once but simultaneously and the main reason for the said clean-up drive was to persuade the students to help fight dengue disease.

The Clean-up drive lasted for almost 2 hours starting 6 in the morning ‘till 8 a.m.
